THE NEED FOR DAILY BREATH WORK
Since the beginning of mankind, virtually every religion, martial arts philosophy and yogic school has put great emphasis on proper breathing and meditation to achieve spirituality and deeper levels of relaxation in the mind and body.
Most of our energy should come from breathing but with daily mounting pressure to achieve, and to produce more at a faster pace, our bodies are operating at "Stress State" (a flight or fight mode). This "Stress State" originated in nature, for those times when the body was in danger. The "Stress State" builds up toxins in the body. Thus, while we get used to living in this state, our stress level constantly builds. The results are a diminished quality of life, poor health, anger, depression, etc.
Over 80% of the toxins in the body are eliminated through the breath, yet most people only use about 15-35% of their lung capacity. An average of 25% of all our energy is used by our mind. Proper breathing and meditation influences one's mental state and helps the mind and body to use less energy. Breath plays an important part in bodily functions and helps to regulate how we feel. When the breath is even and rhythmic the mind is clear and balanced, we feel lighter.
The lighter we feel, the less energy we use and the less stress there is on the body. The less stress on the body the happier we become and the more we come from our center, which greatly enhances our lives and others around us.
